The Mini Countryman C has launched in India at around ₹58 lakh (ex-showroom) — and the bigger story is under the badge: it’s the first Countryman to be locally assembled in India, at the BMW Group’s Chennai plant. That local assembly is how Mini has slotted it neatly below the ₹64.90 lakh Countryman JCW All4, opening the nameplate up to more buyers cross-shopping the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
Engine and performance

The Countryman C uses a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol making 134 bhp and 230 Nm, driving the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. All-wheel drive isn’t offered on this variant in India — that’s reserved for the hotter JCW. For a premium compact SUV this is about easy, refined commuting rather than outright pace.
Features and cabin
The centrepiece is Mini’s distinctive 9.4-inch circular OLED touchscreen running MINI OS 9, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected navigation and over-the-air updates. There’s also a head-up display, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate with physical controls, paddle shifters and a premium audio system. Five exterior colours are offered: Chilli Red, British Racing Green, Nanuq White, Slate Blue and Smokey Green.
Price and rivals
| Model | Approx. price (ex-showroom) |
|---|---|
| Mini Countryman C | ~₹58 lakh |
| Mini Countryman JCW All4 | ₹64.90 lakh |
| BMW X1 / Audi Q3 / Mercedes GLA | ~₹49–56 lakh |
Against the German trio, the Countryman C trades some badge-for-badge value for Mini’s unmistakable design and cabin character — the reason buyers pick a Mini in the first place.
