Tata Motors has launched the Harrier and Safari Stealth Edition with a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, priced at Rs 23.43 lakh for the Harrier and Rs 24.04 lakh for the Safari (both ex-showroom). This is the first time either SUV has been offered with a petrol motor, ending their diesel-only run and opening the murdered-out Stealth theme to buyers who wanted a smoother, quieter drivetrain.
A new turbo-petrol heart
The headline is the fresh 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 168 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. Buyers can pick between a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque-converter automatic. Notably, the output matches the familiar 2.0-litre diesel’s 168 bhp, so the petrol is not a low-cost detune but a genuine alternative powertrain. The proven diesel continues alongside it across the range.
What the Stealth Edition brings
The Stealth Edition wraps both SUVs in a Stealth Black matte exterior finish, adds 19-inch matte-black alloy wheels, Stealth badging on the front fenders and an all-black cabin. On the petrol, the trim is based on the Harrier’s Fearless Ultra and the Safari’s Accomplished Ultra grade, so kit remains generous.
