Yamaha has launched the Aerox E electric scooter in India at ₹2,81,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi and Bengaluru), making it the most expensive Yamaha two-wheeler currently on sale in the country. In Mumbai, Pune and Chennai the sporty EV is priced slightly higher at ₹2,82,390. It is Yamaha’s second electric offering for India and an all-electric take on the popular petrol Aerox 155 maxi-scooter.

The Aerox E draws power from two removable 1.5kWh lithium-ion battery packs for a combined 3.0kWh capacity. Driving the rear wheel is an electric motor rated at 9.4kW (roughly 12.9hp) and a healthy 48Nm of torque. Yamaha claims an IDC-certified range of 117km on a full charge, though real-world figures will naturally sit lower depending on riding style. The scooter tips the scales at 139kg, about 13kg heavier than the petrol Aerox 155.

Performance and charging

Ride modes span Eco, Standard, Power and an added Boost function. Ridden in Power with Boost engaged, Yamaha claims a top speed of around 95.5kmph. Charging a single battery pack takes about 3 hours 10 minutes, while topping up both packs together takes roughly 6 hours 20 minutes — and because the batteries are removable, owners can charge them indoors.

Features and hardware

The Aerox E gets a TFT dashboard with smartphone app connectivity, twin-LED headlights and an LED tail-light. Braking is handled by front and rear disc brakes with ABS, underlining the scooter’s performance intent.
